Lead. Learn. Love.
I am a fifth-grade student at St. Joseph’s School and I want to welcome you to our school. I have attended Saint Joseph School since kindergarten, and I love learning more about my Catholic Faith. I love the awesome teachers I have had and the fun things we do. Some of the fun things are First Friday Mass, CYO sports, Boosterthon, Monster Mash and fundraisers for those in need. I love the special area classes too! There is Honors Math, Art, Music, Spanish, Library, and Religion. I am a proud member of the Student Council committee. I listen to my classmates’ ideas and help to make St. Joseph School even better. I also like to participate in our open house tours to share my awesome experiences with families who are thinking about coming here. Lastly, I would like to say thank you again to everyone who works, helps out, and supports St. Joseph’s School. I am proud to be a student at St. Joseph School.
I have attended St. Joseph School since kindergarten. My Catholic faith life has grown each and every day here at St. Joseph. This school has given me many amazing memories, including the Monster Mash, Field Day, and Career Day. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to embrace this wonderful school and all it has to offer.
My favorite thing about St. Joseph School is the feeling of community around you wherever you go. You are always surrounded by loving and caring teachers and students. Wherever you go, you will be surrounded by kindness and warm smiles. You will get to know each and every one of your classmates very well because classes are not huge. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to grow up with students who I know will be involved in my life even after I graduate.
Another one of my favorite things about the school are the countless events like Career Day, where students have the chance to learn about many different jobs of the students' parents . On the day of the Monster Mash, each grade level goes to the gymnasium. It is decorated with Halloween decorations and music is playing. While you are there, you dance to music and have a great time with your friends. Finally, my favorite event of all is Field Day. On this day, you are dressed in a green or white shirt, depending on your team. The two teams will compete in numerous events/challenges, including Tug Of War, Capture the Flag, and many others. You get to be outside most of the day, and have a blast with your teammates and friends. Other events include Trunk Or Treat, Boosterthon, and Mission Day. These are only a few of the many events we have each year to unite our school.
Here at St. Joseph School, our faith is a top priority. Every morning as school starts and every afternoon when school ends, we say a prayer. My Catholic faith has been a big part of my life since I started attending St. Joseph. Not only has my prayer-life grown, but my faith as a whole. Each and every day you are able to practice your faith and learn more about it. There is always an opportunity to strengthen your faith, and that is one of the most important parts about our school. One core value I have learned to live by, thanks to St. Joseph School, is this motto: God First, Others Second, and Yourself Third.
I look at St Joseph School the same way as many other students do, a home. This place is really special to me and many others because of this. St. Joseph is a place where you will never feel lost or scared, but rather, safe, and most importantly, LOVED!
I’ve gone to Saint. Joe’s since Pre-K, and this school’s way of teaching will always be a major part of my life. Whenever I think about my earlier years here at Saint. Joseph’s, I feel super happy and I love to look back on those memories. I learned so much here at school, and I would, if I could, stay here for my high school years as well. There’s so much to like about this school because you can’t go anywhere without seeing a friendly face.
One of my favorite things is all the friendships. People meet their soon to be best friends in preschool or kindergarten without even knowing who they were talking to. I met my first friend in Pre-K during our recess. I was just standing around, as were several kids who had just begun school, when another kid walked up to me and asked if I wanted to be his friend. I said yes, and that little conversation started a whole new world for me. I still know that kid, and he happens to be one of my many best friends.
One of my all-time favorite moments happened just a year ago, when I was in my sixth grade math class and it was our last math class of the year. My teacher, Ms. P, told my math class that we were the best group that she had had in her entire career of teaching. We then had a party with lots of food, and jokes and smiles, and it was probably one of the best moments in my life. We make countless memories here at Saint. Joseph, like Catholic Schools Week with all the projects we get to show that were made with lots of care, and getting to have dress-down days, playing bingo with the whole school, and so much more.
We have a very strong Catholic education here at Saint Joseph. We take religion class every single day, and we have school masses on the first Friday of every month, and also on feast days, holidays and we use the church for our school pageants. When I came here, I pretty much knew nothing of God or Jesus, or any of the Holy Family. But as the years passed, my knowledge of God and his Son, and my Catholic faith grew to an amount I would have never thought possible. We learned about the creation of the Earth, the Original Sin, the Devil even if we didn’t want to , and everything you could think of about God. I signed up to be a Mass Altar Server, along with several others in my grade. We take every chance we get to head up on the altar to serve the Lord.
When the Corona Virus hit, a lot of us students were troubled with having to take lessons online for the first time. We were very grateful when COVID finally died down a little, and we were able to head back to school, with masks no less, but still we were able to talk to friends face to face. It was even better when we were able to finally remove our masks. People are still going down with the sickness, and some very badly, but our teachers are still doing everything they can to teach their students what they need to know. We all appreciate what they have done for us.
This school, this family, Saint Joseph’s, is all I have ever known to be safe, kind, hopeful, and Christlike . Saint Joseph has become a home, a sanctuary, for more than a few of us over the years. We all work to keep each other safe and happy, and we have and will do everything we can to give more people a home here, and for those who don’t feel loved, those who don’t know what to do in life, know you are loved, you are cared for, and that Jesus is watching over you. You will always have a home here, at Saint Joseph School.
